Hi! Welcome to my first blog for my website “DogComfortItems.com“!
This website means a lot to me because I believe in taking the best care we can of our precious companions. They do so much for us helping us to get through the drudgery of every day living. The least we can do is provide them with products that take care of them and give them comfort, happiness, and joy.
My name is Renea Puckett, and I am a retired US Postal Service worker with 41 years of service. I live with my husband, Kevin, of 45 years. We have 32-year-old twins, Christopher and Rebecca, and a dog named Buddy, a boxer. I am partial to dogs, but I realize that any pet can provide their owner with love and happiness. Many of my products are also suitable for cats, and some are also suitable for rabbits, gerbils, hamsters, etc.
I have had dogs as pets since I was 10 years old living with my military family – I am the youngest of three children. My father, of whom I was very proud, was in the US Army in the 82nd Airborne and the Special Forces. He was of Mexican nationality and fluent in English and Spanish. He was well-respected and rose in rank to become a Command Sergeant Major, E9. My brother, the oldest child, followed in his footsteps and also joined the US Army and became both a Ranger and a member of the Special Forces. My mother was a homemaker, born and raised in Indiana. I took after my mother, for sure! I am the spitting image of her. I was proud of her, as well; especially now that I am a mother of twins and Grandma to two boys and one granddog, Bonita – I realize how hard she worked to keep the household running smoothly and taking care of all of us. Unfortunately, both my parents are deceased.
Our first pet was Rufus, a beagle. He grew to adore my father! My dad would take Rufus with him to work; he ran PT with my father and sat by his desk during the day. The battalion loved Rufus! We lived on base at Fort Devens, MA, at the time. We soon got a female beagle, Raisin, and they produced about 3 litters over the years. I used to love to come home from school and lay on the floor with the puppies crawling all over me! It was a great way to shake off the stress of the day.
At the ripe old age of 19, I married and my husband and I started a family of our own, continuing the tradition of having a beagle whom we also named Rufus, as the original Rufus had passed. Our initial family grew as we added two more dogs, Raisin, a german shepherd, and Rosalee, a mixed breed; both were rescues. Having three dogs was a bit overwhelming at times, but we wouldn’t have had it any other way!
We enjoyed the early years of our marriage travelling a lot and loving on our pet children. After 10 years, we started trying for a baby, and we were blessed with our twins. We have had many dogs throughout the years, and losing each one of them hurt so much. The last one was Bear, a beagle/basset hound mix, who was so loving and sweet, that it was 15 years before we could even think of getting another dog after he passed. And, also, I wanted to wait until I was retired which occurred in 2021.
We were not actively looking for a dog when God presented Buddy to us. We were watching TV, and my husband was scrolling through Facebook as he often does. He scrolls though Facebook like he watches TV – flipping quickly through and not stopping to read. He showed me a picture of a boxer and said that that was the exact type of boxer he wanted. I asked him what the post was about, and he said, “I don’t know”. TYPICAL! I told him to give me his phone, and the rest is history! I found out it was Buddy, and he was being taken to the animal shelter the very next day. I was there before they opened to rescue him as I wanted to beat anyone who would have wanted this beautiful, strong boxer. I feel like he was meant to be our precious companion.
He has turned out to be one of the most loving dogs we have ever had and extremely cuddly, which I love!! He is also very well-mannered; he does not run off when he is off his leash, he listens very well, and gets along with our two grandchildren. Buddy preceded one grandchild. LOL
He has provided us with so much joy and especially now that I am working from home, he is my constant companion. He is mellow and perfectly suited for this old retired couple!
Other than working on my website and my other internet businesses, I love to travel, be outdoors, be with my grandchildren (human and nonhuman), listen to music and attend concerts with my BFF, my daughter, Rebecca (I’m a banger!), and hang out with my bible class girlfriends. Life is good!
Thanks for reading and letting me introduce myself! I hope this relationship continues to grow! Enjoy my products and God bless you and your furry companions!
Take care!
